Otterly is a popular AI search monitoring tool: it runs the prompts you choose in AI search engines every day and shows where your brand is mentioned and which links are cited. If you’re looking at alternatives, it’s usually for one of three reasons: price as you add prompts, which engines are included, or how much tool you actually need.

We make WhatTheBotSaid, which is one of the options below, so weigh that. Every price and limit here comes from each company’s own public pricing page, checked on October 25, 2026, in US dollars, at monthly prices unless we say otherwise. We list where Otterly is the better pick too.

Otterly: what it does well

Otterly’s plans all include daily tracking, unlimited team members, brand visibility and sentiment, citation source tracking and brand profiling. Every plan tracks ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini available as add-ons. Standard and up add optimization recommendations and MCP access, and Otterly also offers crawlability and content audits (Otterly pricing). It offers a free trial with no credit card needed (its FAQ says 7 days) and API documentation (Otterly).

Where people outgrow it: Lite includes 15 prompts, and the next plan, Standard with 100 prompts, is $189/month. Adding Gemini, Claude or Google AI Mode costs extra.

Peec AI

Peec AI’s brand plans are Starter at $95/month for 50 prompts, Pro at $245 for 150 and Advanced at $495 for 350, each with daily tracking and 3 models you choose; Enterprise lists up to 13 models and is priced by sales (Peec AI pricing). Its pricing page also lists a free trial, source analytics, gap analysis (sources that name competitors but not you) and a robots.txt crawlability audit. It’s a step up in price from Otterly Lite, with more prompts per dollar at the higher tiers.

Profound

Profound’s public pricing page shows a free trial (50 prompts run daily for 7 days across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews) and a custom-priced Enterprise plan that tracks up to 9 answer engines, with SSO and SOC 2 (Profound pricing). It positions itself as an “AI Marketer” with agents for research and writing, not only tracking. It suits larger teams that are happy to talk to sales.

Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

Semrush sells its AI Visibility Toolkit from $99/month per domain (shown billed annually on its pricing page), with 25 tracked prompts, mentions from ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity, competitor and prompt research, and an AI-readiness site audit (Semrush pricing). Semrush’s help center lists it at $99 per month and says the toolkit has no free trial (Semrush KB). It makes most sense if you already pay for Semrush.

WhatTheBotSaid (ours)

WhatTheBotSaid asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude the questions your buyers ask about your category, then shows whether you were named, who was named instead, and which pages were cited. Starter is $19/month for 1 brand and 5 buyer questions checked weekly; Growth is $49/month for 3 brands, 10 questions each, competitor tracking and weekly fix ideas. The free check needs no card or account.

What it doesn’t do: it checks weekly, not daily; it doesn’t track Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode or Microsoft Copilot; it doesn’t audit your site’s crawlability; and our Gemini answers currently come from the model without live search (no Google Search grounding), so Gemini’s answers don’t reflect today’s web. If you need those, Otterly or one of the others above is a better fit.

How to choose

Whatever you use, the tracking is the easy part. Getting named usually comes from fair comparison pages and mentions on other sites; our guides on writing comparison pages AI assistants cite and checking whether ChatGPT recommends you cover that.

FAQ

What does Otterly cost?

On October 25, 2026, Otterly’s pricing page listed Lite at $29/month for 15 search prompts, Standard at $189/month for 100 prompts and Premium at $489/month for 400 prompts, with custom plans from 1,000 prompts. Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini are paid add-ons. Prices change, so check the pricing page before you buy.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Otterly?

Otterly’s $29 Lite plan is already one of the cheaper paid trackers. WhatTheBotSaid starts lower, at $19/month, but it checks weekly instead of daily, asks fewer questions, and doesn’t cover Google AI Overviews or Microsoft Copilot. If you mainly need to know whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude name you, that may be enough. If you need daily data, Google AI Overviews or Copilot, Otterly is the better fit.

Which alternative tracks the most AI engines?

On the public pricing pages we checked, Otterly tracks four engines on every plan with three more as add-ons, Peec AI’s Enterprise plan lists up to 13 models (3 of your choice on its self-serve plans), and Profound’s Enterprise plan lists up to 9 answer engines. WhatTheBotSaid covers four: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude.

Can I check this myself for free?

Yes. Ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude the questions your buyers ask, in fresh chats, without naming your brand, and write down who they name and which pages they cite. It takes time to repeat every week, which is what all of these tools automate. Our free check does one round for you, with no card or account.
