Is your robots.txt keeping you out of Gemini?
Google has a robots.txt token called Google-Extended. It controls whether Google may use your pages to train future Gemini models and for grounding in Gemini Apps, which means handing Gemini pages from Google's index when it answers a question.
Google says Google-Extended doesn't affect your inclusion or ranking in Google Search. So you can rank fine in Google and still be left out of what Gemini draws on.
Do this today:
- Open yourdomain.com/robots.txt.
- Look for a
User-agent: Google-Extendedgroup withDisallow: /. - Want Gemini to use your pages? Remove that rule. Note it covers training too.
